The Temple of Heaven is a complex of religious buildings situated in southeast Beijing. It was built in 1420 for sacrifices to heaven.

Within the complex there are a total of 92 ancient buildings with 600 rooms. Its overall layout symbolizes the relationship between earth and heaven.

Local people relax in the surrounding area playing musical instruments and board games.

The Summer Palace is a vast ensemble of lakes, gardens, palaces, temples and bridges.

Longevity Hill is dotted with assorted halls and gardens.

 

 

The long corridor leads from the Gate for Greeting the Moon  westwards along the northern shore of  Kunming Lake. It is richly decorated with 1400 paintings.

 

The iconic Great Wall of China is a series of fortifications built along the historical northern border of China.

 

Carol climbed the Great Wall despite spraining her ankle stepping off a bus the previous day.
